A list of basic needs and constraints for the aircraft are as follows:
The aircraft must successfully complete one 360 degree circuit of the airfield
The aircraft must take off within 200 feet
The aircraft must land within 400 feet
No lighter-than-air or rotary wing aircraft
The propeller must not be made of metal
Carbon fiber and fiberglass are prohibited on all parts of the aircraft with exception of the propeller
No fuel pump is permitted
The use of gear boxes is prohibited unless the gear ratio between the engine and the propeller remains at 1:1
The engine must use fuel supplied by the competition
No gyroscopic stabilization is allowed
The aircraft must be able to fit into a travel sized van
All tools for set up and take down of the aircraft must also be able to travel with the team to the competition in a travel sized van
